Penthouse Remodel
Penthouse Remodel
Previous clients wanted to downsize from a single family home to a place where they could be closer to family and with a conscious desire to be able to age in place as much as possible. Breathtaking views, a great location, and lots of amenities were key factors in their decision to buy a penthouse in Southern California; however, the space had not been updated since the early 80’s and didn’t meet their accessibility requirements. With some rearranging and rethinking of the existing spaces, we were able to come up with a solution that fit their needs. While a couple of walls were torn down or removed, there were no major structural changes but all spaces got a makeover. The kitchen and dining area were opened up and an extra storage closet was created in that area. Additionally, a bath which opened onto the living room was reconfigured to make the space more private and allowed for the office to double as a guest suite or a place to convalesce. Upstairs, the master suite was reworked to include a large walk-in closet and an open shower with seating. The remodeled space not only fits into their plan to age in place but also works with their modern sensibilities.
