Mediterranean Remodel
Mediterranean Remodel
This 1920s Mediterranean home had good bones and most of its original architectural detailing intact. However, a misguided 1970s kitchen remodel and family room addition stuck out like a sore thumb. To make matters worse, the family room's main access was through the laundry. Relocating the laundry and shifting the kitchen allowed for an entertainment center to act as a transition from kitchen to family room. Historically appropriate details were added to the family room making for a seamless connection between old and new. The enlarged kitchen contains every modern convenience while retaining period personality. Finally, a rear courtyard was added just off of the family room to create a smooth transition from indoors to outdoors.
